I was driving in the car, heading to the beach with a friend. I glanced over to the left and saw a farmer’s market. I quickly scooted over a couple of lanes to hop out of the car. Yes, the plan was to go to the beach. But a quick detour, especially to a market, never hurt nobody.
You see, I take detours and tangents often. I do it in conversations. I do it when I am driving. I even do it in my work. Through my detours and tangents, I always get back to where I was originally going, if it serves. When I get back to where I was going, I am often in a much better place. I have had a chance to explore, test things out and feed my curiosity.
My friend was right on board with me. She knew exactly what was going on. She too eyed the farmer’s market and got excited by the detour. That friend was Shelley Chapman of Eat Relate Love. She does the same thing and LOVES it!
That’s how it’s been ever since I formally met Shelley through Akilah at their Brownie Monologues event in NYC. From a quick stop at a new burger spot to noshing at SOBE Wine + Food Festival to delicious vegan birthday cake. Shelley and I know how to savor food + life together.
Not only is Shelley is a foodie, she understands and knows how to have food experiences. As The Food Relationship Coach, she helps women health their relationship with food and Self. She helps them pause, and maybe even detour, to take notice. After working with her they are in a much better place and have a deeper connection with their food.
That’s why I’m excited that Shelley will be sharing her emotional wellness gems with you, Akilah and me in Jamaica for the Yoga + Wellness Retreat this year.
Here’s her invitation for you to join us at the table.
How do you feed yourself joy + satisfaction?
NOTE: No Jamaica national bobsled team members were injured or involved in our food experiences
