The Risk of Getting Hit By a Train Might Be Worth It

Are you at a stand still? Cars in traffic.Sometimes, you have to cross the tracks, risking that a train might come. Traffic standing still at a track can just mean that the light is broken. – me

I got stuck at a railroad crossing this morning. After about 5 minutes, it was clear probable that a train was not coming. I wasn’t the first car in line at the intersection. Car after car pulled up. Everyone stayed put for a loooooong time.

Still no train.

Are you at a crossroads? What is it going to take to cross it?

Eventually, one person broke free to open up space for people to freely pass through the tracks. I saw it as an opportunity. Most people (at least 80!) stayed put, except me and a few others. In my opinion, if a train was coming, it wasn’t coming anytime soon. So that translated to….a train not coming.

I wasn’t sure, but I was willing to take the risk. I pulled around 7 cars and moved my way up to the tracks. Some might view that as impatience.

I view it as intuition in action….you might call it something else. That’s cool.

Although the traffic stopped at the track, it doesn’t mean that a train is coming. It might come, but all signs (and my intuition) are pointing to the opposite.

My questions to you are:

Have you been allowing “standard practice” or others to govern your actions?

What “might” come for you that you’ve been sitting around waiting for?

What risk have you been avoiding?

What is your intuition telling you to do?

What opportunity presented itself that you ignored?
