I am doing a lot of unpacking this week.
Physically + emotionally.
I finally moved to my new place after 9 months in South Florida. YAY! All of my stuff that has been packed up for over a year….is now in my living room.
Everyone needs time to unpack.
I take a bit longer to unpack. Life doesn’t stop for me just because I need to unpack. Yes, getting settled is one of my priorities. AND, I definitely do not plan for my house to look like a storage room. However, cooking a healthy meal, connecting with clients, scoping out a business opportunity, and going to that fun social event are also things that I want to do as well.
I have to honor that I was going through a LOT when I packed up all of my belongings. So naturally, I am not rushing to have all of that emotional weight on my shoulders. But I also want to go through it all, so I can release some stuff. I need to get rid of some stuff.
I have permission to take my time.
I am not Superwoman, nor do I want to be. So, if I need time to unpack, I will take it. If it means that my beau will give me the side eye for a few weeks, then so be it. It’s the best thing for my emotional well-being. I give mySelf permission.

It’s not odd that this emotional unpacking is coinciding with Akilah’s Women’s Emotional Wellness Conference. I presented at the conference earlier this week. Here’s my contribution (below).
